DAILY DOUBLE

A daily double wager allows you to bet on the winner of what are usually two consecutive races at some point during a track’s program. Often, tracks have an early Daily Double for the first two races and a late Daily Double for the last two races. Other tracks might have what’s known as a rolling daily double, which is when the daily double continues throughout the card for every race except the last (since there wouldn’t be another race following it).

SYRAH

This fruit forward blend of 100% Syrah spent 18 months in French and American oak and runs to the lead with rich ripe red fruit aromas of cherry, currant, and strawberry backed by dried herbal notes. Entering the stretch the palette fills with a viscous and jammy ensemble of blackberry, blueberry, licorice and spice. Racing to the finish line with bright acidity and silky tannins giving way to a long memorable finish.

Washington Wine Blog says ... This inky colored Syrah wine opens with a bouquet of prune, red cherry, baking spices and suggestions of milk chocolate. The texture is lovely as the silky wine glides through the mid-palate, revealing milk chocolate, sage, black tea and blackberry pie flavors. The weight is excellent here. Drink 2017-2024.

SYRAH

Great Northwest Wine says... Woodinville vintner Terry Wells draws some great positioning at the starting gate for this round yet full Syrah with bloodlines of Milbrandts’ Clifton Hill Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope and Olsen Brothers Vineyard in the Yakima Valley near Prosser. All four of the oak barrels were French, with one of them brand new, and the wood treatment shows balance, allowing for aromas of dark blue fruit, toast and white pepper. Inside, it’s plummy, cherry and chocolaty as blueberry skin tannins merely provide some context for a long ride to the finish. These wines are available for tasting on weekends in the Warehouse District, and they can be enjoyed with Tacos Carnitas at nearby Village Wines.

Washington Wine Blog says... deep and inky colored, this shows really nice clove, spicebox and black cherry compote aromatics. The palate is downright delicious, exuding deep black fruits with a touch of milk chocolate.
